Clear Comprehension

Once mindfulness is established attention to experience may yield clear comprehension. That is to say, if we begin with a receptive mind, the mind is ready to receive whatever appears with less prejudice (less prejudgment, less automaticity). According to Anālayo, awareness of the body, especially the body as a whole, is a skillful object of attention to allow mindfulness and clear comprehension. Thus, as I understand it, watching for, receiving, the experience of feeling tone (“about to” moments) brings one into the arising of consciousness in the body, to practice of receptivity, and to clear comprehension of arising experience. This is a space of immediate awareness and freedom.
