Balance: Autonomy and Community

“…autonomy is good for creativity and its development, but too much autonomy, and there may be no direction, no focus (Albert & Runco, 1989).” in Kaufman and Sternberg (2010)

I ran across this passage in my reading today. It alone is a good reason for me to have decided to return to school. There are times to work in seclusion and times to reconnect, not only with other beings, other human beings, but also with the evolutionary thread of our species, to study what we have learned together and consider together where we are going now. There are many ways to do this, depending on personal interests. One is simply being in a great collaborative working environment.

Where are you in this balance now? Enough autonomy? Too much?
